Worried about nuclear war?

 Worried about nuclear war?

The current events in Ukraine are alarming - and they should be. People are fast realizing that the world is not the place that they thought it was; that wars still happen, people are willing and capable to harm others, and losing everything is a possibility.

Moreover; possible events that many thought wouldn't be brought up...have been. And by this I mean the prospect of a nuclear war. I am sure that many, many people thought that while this always was a possibility, no one thought that the leaders of powerful nations would seriously use nuclear weapons as a threat.

So then what? What are your priorities in this life...do money, power, and worldly possessions look as attractive any more?

No. No they don't.

When you begin to look at life from this perspective, you begin to realize what is truly important. Namely your future, your family and people you care about, and basic needs.

So what is your future? What happens when you die?

This is not a maybe - no one gets out of life alive! This is why our faith is so incredibly important. If everything ended today...What would happen to you?

How we live affects us for eternity. I covered this in part here ( The Gospel in a nutshell), but as Christians we are privileged to be able to have confidence in our future. We are entrusted with the truth, gifted eternity with our Creator.

This is why it is so important to live our faith - When we follow Christ, we begin to change to represent Him to the world. We love God, and others ( Matthew 22:37-40, see below for ESV). This changes things. People notice. And by the work of God, who is Love (1 John 4:8), we are able to affect the world.

Urgency is tantamount. We must tell others this news of Christ. It is so incredibly important! Not only are Christians commanded to (Matthew 28:16-20) , but lovingly knowing this - the Good News of Christ - can and does affect people for eternity.

And if their eternity started tomorrow, not knowing Christ, is eternity away from God.

Matthew 28:16-20 ESV

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”"
