Death to Anger Part II: On defeating anger with prayer

Anger is exhausting. It literally drains your energy.

But forgiveness is persistent. To let go of anger sometimes means to forgive. And forgive. And forgive.

I have covered so much of dealing with anger here - but there is always another circumstance, another situation you cannot tolerate. We must keep at the forefront of our minds that we forgive others as Christ forgave us - That no matter how angry we can get over a situation, our anger is not going to solve anything, although it may be a catalyst for change in the future.

When we forgive, we can let go.

I touched on this before, but prayer is an amazing tool in conquering anger. God has blessed us with prayer; we can go to Him with our situation, telling Him where we are - our feelings, our frustrations, and an earnest plea for help. A prayer for help where we ask for help to forgive, and help to let go. God knows us. There is nothing that He does not know - and for us to know this truth leads to a more pure and open relationship with God. We can literally go to Him with anything.

We don't have to hide. We can go to Him and pour out our hearts in prayer....and wait. He has heard you, and He will answer your prayer. So many times, just letting go and leaving a truly frustrating problem at the feet of God in prayer is enough to begin to let go of anger.
